DRUGS
As with anywhere else in the UK, the possession or supply of drugs is illegal at Y Not Festival. We work with our security teams and Derbyshire Police to prevent drugs entering the event. All drugs are potentially dangerous; there are no harmless drugs.
The only way to avoid risks is not to take drugs at all. This also goes for psychoactive substances (formerly known as ‘legal highs’) as well. If at the point of search anyone is found to be in possession of drugs, legal highs, pyros or weapons, our policy is that you will be refused entry and may be arrested.
Please don’t ruin your experience at Y Not before it gets started. Ahead of the festival we are encouraging everyone to read through the great advice shared by Festival Safe
BE VIGILANT
We want everyone who attends Y Not to have the best weekend and experience possible, so please act sensibly. With that in mind, don’t leave drinks unattended or accept a drink, vape or anything else from someone you don’t know. If you or a friend feel unwell, please contact a member of staff right away or head to the Medics/ Welfare tent.
WELFARE
If you find yourself in a vulnerable situation or are feeling particularly vulnerable or alone and scared at our event then please rest assured that our welfare team is here to help. Our medical and welfare teams are located in the Village Green area of the site and are open 24 hrs a day. They are there to help and to lend a friendly, non judgemental ear to whatever ails you.
We all want to have a good time but know your limits. Alcohol and other drugs can impair your judgement; don’t feel pressured into doing anything you aren’t comfortable with. If you need to visit medics or welfare, be honest about what you have consumed so they know how best to help you.
PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION
Please remember to bring any prescription / regular medications you normally take, and do not stop taking them or change your dosage because you are coming to the festival, without consulting your doctor first. Sealed prescription medication will be allowed in at the gates.
HEALTH SERVICES
Y Not is committed to upholding the best practice to address incidents of sexual assault or harassment on its festival site. We are working with the following organisations & charities to ensure Y Not is a safe space for all who attend:
- Child Bereavement UK
The beneficiary charity of this year’s Y Not Festival is Child Bereavement UK, a national charity that supports children and young people (up to age 25), parents and families when a child grieves or when a child dies.
Throughout the festival volunteers for the charity will be wearing their bright yellow t-shirts and selling wristbands and raffle tickets for a chance to meet one of our performers. There will also be a Memorabilia Auction situated in the Village with all funds raised being donated to Child Bereavement UK.
Please support charity by donating what you can, helping them to rebuild lives by offering support free of charge to families facing the devastation of child bereavement. Thank you. For more information or to access support, please visit: Child Bereavement UK or call: 0800 02 888 40
- The Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust
located in the Village green area offering a range of services such as: STI Testing, Sexual Health Advice, Emergency Contraception, Free Condoms.
- SV2
SV2 is a Derbyshire charity supporting sexual violence victims with ISVAs and Children's ISVAs. They provide counselling for all genders, for recent and historical abuse, working with but independently from the police to empower survivors.
- Derby and Derbyshire Suicide Prevention Programme
The Derby and Derbyshire Suicide Prevention Programme is back at Y Not to break the silence and stigma around suicide. Visit the team at Y Not via the stall in the Welfare Area for a chat and information.
- Mentell
Mentell offers safe, confidential spaces for men (18+) to talk, free from advice and judgement. We provide free weekly support groups online and in-person. Visit our team at the festival and help support men's mental health.
- 1625 Outreach
1625 Outreach, local to Derbyshire, supports festival-goers with drugs, alcohol, and personal safety. They provide:
- Free, confidential advice on drugs/alcohol
- Harm reduction info and resources
- Help accessing on-site and community support
- Free safety resources (e.g., drink spiking covers)
- A safe space for harm reduction or recovery chats
Find them in the main arena and Village Green, or message on Instagram @1625_Outreach.
SECURITY AND SAFETY
We have been working closely with the Derbyshire Police to ensure Y Not Festival will be an enjoyable and safe event for all. We hope you don’t need the police, but if you do, police officers will be on site during the festival, alongside security staff, and whilst we hope you won't need their assistance they will be there if you need support. We want you to leave Y Not with great memories, new friends, and... all of your belongings.
Read the tips below from officers for staying safe at this year's event:
- Keep valuable items with you in a secure bag or inside pockets at all times.
- Campers are encouraged to put valuables in their sleeping bag with them when they go to bed.
- Stick with your friends – if you're with people you know and trust, the chances are you'll look out for each other. Festivals give you the opportunity to meet new friends but going off with people who you've just met may lead you into situations you don't want to be in.
- Moderate your alcohol consumption, if you overdo it you'll be less aware and less likely to spot dangers.
- Keep an eye on your drink and never leave it unattended.
- If you’re the designated driver for your journey home, remember that you could still be over the limit if you have too much to drink the night before you leave. So if you plan to hit the road the next day, stay sober the night before. No festival is worth losing your licence or your life over, and if you’re over the limit the next day, the risk of a collision is huge.
You can report a crime in person with the dedicated police team at The Village Green, where call handlers can take reports of any incidents there and then. This will be open from 10am-6pm on Thursday 1st July and from 9am-6pm during Friday, Saturday & Sunday.
Should you need to report a crime outside of these hours, please contact Derbyshire police via the following channels:
Facebook - send a private message to the Derbyshire Constabulary Facebook page
Twitter - direct message the police contact centre via @DerPolContact
Website - there are several crime reporting tools on the Derbyshire Constabulary website or you can use the online contact form.
Phone – call us on 101
In an emergency, always call 999.
You can also anonymously contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111, or by visiting the Crimestoppers website.
TICKET TOUTS
Do not purchase tickets from any unofficial channel such as ticket touts operating outside the event and on social media, these tickets will NOT be valid and you will be refused entry.
If you can no longer make the event, you can register your ticket to be sold with our official partner Tixel. Visit the Y Not Tixel ticket page here. You can sign up to purchase an official resale ticket with our partner Tixel, who provide a safe and easy place for you to purchase a Y Not ticket from an existing customer.
MOBILE PHONES
MOBILE PHONES

TOP TIP:
Write the phone number of a friend or family member with you at the festival, along with “If found please call this number” in your notes, screenshot it and save it as your phone’s lock screen. That way, if another festival goer or a member of staff finds your phone, they can call the number and arrange to get it returned.
