CITY OF FOLEY EMPLOYMENT NOTICE NON-CERTIFIED PATROL OFFICER Are you looking for a rewarding career in law enforcement? Foley Police Department is that place. Foley Police Department serves a community of roughly 22,000 citizens. We are located just 10 miles from the Beautiful Alabama Beaches and are looking for non-certified officers like you!

We are looking for Non-Certified applicants, must be 21 years old or older and will be required to take a physical agility test which consists of timed push-ups (22 push-ups in sixty seconds), sit-ups (twenty-five sit-ups in sixty seconds), a 1.5 mile run (one and a half mile run in fifteen minutes and twenty-eight seconds) and complete a physical agility course within 90 seconds. Satisfactory completion of Police Academy training, which is paid for by the City, will be required within six months from date of hire. Successful applicant must possess a valid driver’s license and pass both a drug test, a full driving and criminal background check, psychological evaluation and a Polygraph Examination.

In addition to the physical requirements, you will also be required to take the ACT WorkKeys Assessment as the official Basic Ability Test (BAT) for all applicants for Law Enforcement Officer employment and certification as required by the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC). This test must be obtained at your own cost and time. There is an exception of the test requirement for those applicants possessing an earned Associate's Degree or higher Degree from an accredited college or university.

RoleThe Foley Police Department features many specialized details that play a critical role in the overall effectiveness of the Department, including:

Patrol K-9, SWAT, Code Enforcement, Accident Investigation Unit, Criminal Investigations, School Resource Officer, Community Service Unit

Starting salary is $52,577.00 annually ($24.07 an hour) with excellent benefits including paid health, dental and life insurance, 25-year retirement through State of Alabama Retirement Systems, disability income coverage, paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave, and annual merit raises based on performance. We work 12-hour day or night shifts with every other Friday, Saturday and Sunday off! We provide quality training, work with state of the art equipment, and there are opportunities for career advancement!

Examples Of Work

  • Patrols designated areas or sectors of the city to deter illegal activities and identify criminal activity in order to preserve the safety and security of individuals, buildings and neighborhoods
  • Responds to all dispatch calls and investigates citizen complaints and reports of breaches of the peace including crimes in progress, crimes discovered after the fact, disturbances, and accidents
  • Performs investigations of crimes by: interviewing witnesses, complaints and victims to obtain facts and circ*mstances of incidents; gathering physical evidence and photographing crime scenes
  • Enforces City and State laws
  • Prepares, processes and transmits reports including: incident reports, non-criminal reports; booking reports; accident reports; witness statements; and traffic citations

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent
  • nine (9) months of experience in a job related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
